Clean, sustainable energy is possible, and Specialty Heating and Cooling is committed to helping the environment through electrification.

What is electrification?
When it comes to your HVAC system, you can replace fossil fuel or natural gas burning equipment with electric equipment. These include highly efficient Carrier heat pumps or ductless units. According to a recent analysis, heat pumps can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 39 to 53% over a 15-year period and reduce 20-year global warming potential by 53 to 67% when compared to a gas furnace (1).

According to an EIA 2015 Residential Energy Consumption Survey from the U.S. Department of Transportation and U.S. EPA, a typical U.S. household spends over $4,000 per year on energy expenses for electricity, gasoline and natural gas. But by electrifying, people can save $1,000 per year in energy expenses and produce zero emissions.

Reports show that use of fossil fuels for energy is one of the largest causes of the current climate crisis. By utilizing clean electricity that’s powered by renewable energy and high performance electric products, cutting carbon emissions is possible. Electrification helps prevent the worst effects of climate change, saves money on energy costs, and aids in reducing air and water pollution.

How we can help:
Our experts at Specialty Heating and Cooling are well-versed on the benefits of electrification and are honored to serve as a resource for people wanting to consult about electrifying their homes with a high efficiency heat pump, ductless heat pump, air conditioner, or electric furnace. We can also accomplish this with dual fuel system; heat pump and gas furnace.

The U.S. government passed the Inflation Reduction Act in 2022, which covered a wide range of initiatives. One specific area of focus is with the HVAC industry, and includes incentives for the installation of high efficiency home and cooling products. Through the act, there are state rebates and tax credits available for people who choose to electrify their home. We work with Portland General Electric as PGE Approved Contractor and the Energy Trust of Oregon.

We recognize that each home is unique. We’re able to customize a comfort and efficiency system that not just meets your needs, but works with your long-term goals for your home and carbon footprint.  With nearly 40 years in the heating and cooling industry, we can find a solution that works for you and your budget. We’ll also help you navigate rebates and tax credits for you to take advantage of. This helps offset the cost of newly installed systems.

Call us today to learn more about electrification and how it can benefit your home not just now, but well into the future.
