Your furnace plays a key role in the comfort of your home, commercial building, or industrial space during the winter. If your system is old, or you’ve needed to complete more repairs on it recently, you might wonder how much longer it will last. Or you might wonder when you should replace it. As we welcome a new year, it’s a great time to consider a furnace replacement. Here’s why.
New furnaces are more energy efficient.
New furnace systems are EnergyStar® rated and built to save energy over the long-term. Repairs are often costly and may not be worth the money invested if the machine is more than 15 years old. Once you install your new furnace, you’ll likely be able to see a difference in your utility bills, too. Why? Because your older machine may have been working hard to do its job, using more energy than necessary, leading to higher utility bills.
New furnaces can help improve indoor air quality.
New systems often come with higher MERV (Minimum Efficiency Reporting Value) filters that help capture and remove harmful air particles. Some advanced furnaces can also include the option to install HEPA filters, which can help capture and eliminate bacteria and other harmful viruses. Did you know that indoor air can often be even more contaminated than outdoor air? Great indoor air quality helps you to breathe confidently! In other words, you’ll know your lungs are free from things that can negatively impact allergies or inflame other respiratory problems.
New furnaces give you peace of mind.
It’s always stressful when your heating system breaks down on a day you need it most. It’s not only cold, but it can feel overwhelming to think about coming up with money for an unexpected repair. New furnaces allow you to rest easy knowing everything is functioning as it should, no matter how cold, icy, rainy, or windy the Pacific Northwest weather gets. You’ll have peace of mind knowing you can click the button, and warm air will come out.
Is your machine on the blitz? Not sure if a repair will be sufficient? In most cases, furnace problems are diagnosed quickly by our team of licensed HVAC professionals. We understand how important it is for you to have a system in good operating condition on the coldest days of winter. So, we’ll work quickly to repair it. A good rule of thumb: if the cost of the repair is less than a third of what it would cost to replace the furnace and if it’s in its first half or less of its lifetime, repair is usually a good choice. If not, we’ll work with you to find a great system that’s within your budget.
Thinking ahead to summer and considering if you should replace your furnace and air conditioning system at the same time? This makes sense for some customers. But we don’t usually recommend this if the furnace is less than a decade old. In those cases, repairs are generally the best option.
No matter what type of system you decide on, we offer convenient financing options that make paying for your system simple.
